All my life I have been surrounded by animals and I realized early that I had a unique connection with them. Even so, when my own dog became very ill my reaction was to seek medical advice. The first vet diagnosed her with cancer and sent me to a specialist who couldn’t confirm that diagnosis and didn’t know what she had. He predicted she would die within three months. How could this be true? Even though she had oozing lumps all over her body and she could barely stand on her own, I couldn’t believe that there was no hope for recovery. I talked to her and let her know that she had the choice to stay or go. If she chose to stay, together we would find a way for her regain her health. At that time, I had recently been certified in animal acupressure. I began treating her with acupressure, herbal teas, food therapy, and energy work.
Within about five months the sores began to disappear, she steadily regained her strength, her coat improved, her eyes were bright again and she was playing like a puppy.
This personal experience supported my belief that life is about choices. Not every health condition responds well to conventional medicine, and we are fortunate that there are alternatives available. It’s been three years since this episode and she continues to thrive and bring joy to our lives.
"I love having the ability to connect humans and animals. When I can tell a person why their pet is reacting a certain way and the human gets it, that's pure joy! Animals bring us the gifts of love and acceptance. They give us the opportunity to become better humans by knowing them. Listening to their words can only enrich our lives."
